I'm almost done with this 3 Act adventure for 8th lvl PFS characters. Trying to place within the next 4-6 weeks.

"UNDER THE MUD"

The story is about a fast moving and quickly growing town being excavated from old ruins with the rediscovery of gold after centuries of abandonment. The adventure genre is Spaghetti-Western with Asian influence (I've actually seen a couple of Asian Spaghetti Westerns. They have ninjas.).

I call it a Spaghetti-Western because there are gunslingers, a priest, ninjas, possibly a corrupt mayor and a hard nosed sheriff located in a mining town and a good possibility of a shootout at high noon. Then there are the dead.

CLASSES: I'm looking for diverse character classes (no two should be alike) of 8th lvl and equipment with at max value for that level. This doesn't mean there can't be two Gunslingers, for instance, it is a Western; however, if one were a true Gunslinger, the other character should have at least 4 lvls in another class.

FACTIONS: People need to talk about what factions they will be because I don't want any 2 players to be of the same one. Faction missions can change the course of the game (or its outcome) and I'd like to test all the factions and get feedback about them after the game. CHOOSE SOON. FIRST COME FIRST SERVE.

ENVIRONMENT: Weather, terrain, fatigue and time constraints are in play. The players will have to decide when to sleep, travel, what to investigate, when to do faction missions (which many are, "do not share with other faction," missions), and how to do all of this within their time constraint and endurance limitations. ALL FACTIONS HAVE THEIR OWN MISSIONS.

Make sure you have some (even little) skills that will let you talk or take what you need to complete your missions. YOU CAN FAIL.

I'm posting early so that players can get an idea for a character they want to play and give me a heads up. After I post for game day(s), I'd like to have the completed character within 3 days so that I can set them up for D20PRO.

Curtis will DM. I may be storytelling and running enemies. HINT: If characters go down near an enemy, there is a % chance, if no one attempts to protect them that a nearby enemy will strike them down. You are not the only ones that understands an enemy can rise again and I'm guessing you'll have more awesome characters than I do NPCs.

So far maps and npcs are damn near complete, the story is being completed this week. I'll discuss time schedules at a later date.

Last thing. I decided that players can turn in 2 characters, in case one dies. There were a few Pathfinders in the region trying their hand at mining. However, your second character can't be of the same class(es) of your first character, although, you can still try and complete faction missions.

i can help you hammer some bugs out of it. I'll toss my hat in for the chelish faction. as far as class goes, it really depends on what if you want me to TRY and break the game, or be good.

I would be interested in playing/helping. I would be willing to try Osirion/Grand Lodge/Silver Crusade. Whatever is needed.

If it's a legal character, you can try it. I'm sure other DMs can't exactly stop people from playing what they want. Just remember, I don't want 2 of the same characters. I would like players to be level 4 in each class so that they are balanced that way and if there is, for example, 1 8th lvl Ranger, and somebody else wants a Ranger, they can only be lvl 4 Ranger and something else.

As for Factions, play what you want. All of the Factions will have something to do. I think only 2 Factions overlap with one mission. Remember that I want everybody to play a different faction.

I think this game will be more detailed than most and there are things you may try that might change events.

As for playing the actual game, it looks like August 7th. I just got my schedule and my boss pretty much loaded up the rest of my Tuesdays. Tell me if that works for people.

BTW: Don't be surprised that if you create an uber character that they might get targeted more as I will be running the enemy.

I was talking to a friend who has experience writing for a different living campaign. He suggested that we play a table of 6 pregen's. The reason is we can then have a clear baseline.

I'd rather have people play character they want. This game has no impact on any preexisting characters or even the one you run. It's mostly for fun.

I was thinking at some time to start a campaign starting with lower (1st) level characters and going from there and just use the PFS rules (except the one where items can't be lost or destroyed but as you'll see with this game, there are bonuses for finishing some of the Faction Missions and I'd place hidden items that could be priced with PP expenditures instead of gp.)

I know it wouldn't effect any of my characters to play this. I was just thinking from a play test standpoint, some people build characters really well and some don't. The iconics are all built about the same power level so you don't have a crazy build walking over your work.

After creating the maps, npcs in Herolab and redue all abilities and descriptions in D20pro, plus get the story done and having to probably enter characters into D20pro, just create a character.

I've had problems in the past with pregens. Too many whine that I should have done this or that and/or they don't like the choices.

If you want to play, create a character and a backup. If we're worried about game play maybe I'll just chose those characters that will work best in the game; although, I'd probably leave your prime choice as your character and the backup as the one that would replace the 1st if you were to die.

Talk about what classes you'll play and what factions you'll want.

Don't forget, ALL FACTIONS, have 1 or 2 Faction missions depending on their difficulty. The second is usually a follow up of the first. Some are really cool and some can help or even hurt the party (if failed) to some extent. They are all unique.

There are also 3 Artifacts in the game and I may add 1 more just for the hell of it and because it came to me last night.

Anyway, create a character and have fun.

NOTE: USE NOTHING FROM THE ADVANCE RACE GUIDE. I'm trying to buy a house so I'm not buying this book.

Putting this off for a month. Doesn't seem to be drawing enough interest and I'm so busy with work and house hunting that I'm not writing a whole lot lately. Besides, my gf has that day off and apparently wants to view some places, which means I'll be worn out.
